I'VE GOT "SKANKLES" AGAIN

FAMILY IS NOT AN IMPORTANT THING.     IT'S EVERYTHING.

                                                                                Unknown

Well, I'm back from my little trip with Nina. And, yes, I never dropped an ounce from all the walking, but I did develop "skankles" again. You know, skinny ankles.

We had a great time, saw two wonderful shows, and again, got our eyes opened to the "big city" kind of people wearing the most outrageous clothes. It was terribly hot and dry, but we mostly rode the monorail. The walking and sightseeing that we did was manageable. Anyhoo, we had fun. I was determined to take lots of pictures this time, but the batteries and back-up batteries didn't work in my camera, so Nina took some on her phone. Unfortunately, I can't seem to download them on my computer, so I only have a few to post.

We went shopping in a store called "America". It only sold stuff concerning Trump or Clinton. I picked up a shirt with this on the front.  Do you like it or hate it?

BREAKING NEWS!!!   Here's a bit of information that I am absolutely furious about.

My 13-year old granddaughter got mugged on the way home from her second day of school this year.
A girl and three boys stole her phone and her wallet. She was really upset that they got her library card, since she uses it all the time. I don't think she realized that we can replace it. Anyway, the police were called and they gave her a ride home. Those kids WILL be dealt with.

I just happened to stop at her house right after she got home. I had noticed that a police car was leaving their street as I was pulling up, but didn't think much about it.  I never dreamed  that it had anything to do with my girls.

Poor kid was absolutely frantic and looked like she was in shock. She couldn't believe that it had happened. What's really stupid about those kids' actions is the fact that they go to the same school as she does and she knows the girl. She doesn't know the boys personally but she has seen them at her not-so-huge school. DUH!

From now on, her big sister will be picking her up after school. Thank goodness!!

And how was YOUR day?

OH, DEAR!  OH, DEER!

OUR GREATEST GLORY IS NOT IN NEVER FALLING, BUT IN RISING EVERY TIME WE FALL.

                                                                                                  Confucius

Today's quote is in reference to a little accident I had last week. While spending time at Jenna's house, her little dog, Myles, had tummy trouble and yacked up some mucus slobber on the floor. I didn't see it and skidded in it, smashing my left arm into a wall and jamming my left big toe straight into another wall. Yes, People, I damaged my big toe nail again!!!! For a few days, I thought my toe was broken, but I think it is just bruised really bad. I was concerned about being able to walk, since tomorrow Nina and I fly off for our little vay cay, and that involves a lot of walking.

Anyhoo, I had trouble explaining to people exactly what had happened, so I drew a little story board for your amusement.

Get the picture?

When I titled this post OH, DEAR! OH, DEER! I wanted to show you a few more pictures.

This is what we saw out our living room window a few days ago. Sure looked pretty.

Well, must dash. Have to pack. I'm not sure what to take since I definitely can't wear anything sleeveless with my injury to my arm. I checked, and where we are going is going to be between 100 and 104 degrees each day. I imagine that we will be in air-conditioning almost all the time.  Talk to ya later!

I'M  "MONKEY PAINTING"

MONKEY SEE, MONKEY DO

Yes, I'm "monkey painting". In our family, that means that you are painting something in the manner of a primitive monkey. In other words, pretty sloppy. If you're painting walls, there is always a splatter  or mist of paint on the woodwork and carpet. I have been called on the fact that occasionally  I am "wearing" more paint than I have applied on anything. Yup, that's "monkey painting".

Today, I'm trying to paint my fingernails and toenails. Ugh.

My eyesight is not up to snuff, so I have to be in very bright light (like outside) to even see what I'm working on. As for my toenails, oy vey! They are far enough away from my eyeballs, that I pretty much have to estimate where the polish is going. And, yes, my biggest toe's nails keep getting bumped, and therefore, they die, and then they turn black (due to past chemo treatments).  I definitely need to keep them covered. So. . . I "monkey paint". Sigh.

It's been an interesting summer, so far. Last week, Jenna, Alec, friend Annie, and I went to a Kernels baseball game. Alec LOVED it and really got involved in actually watching the game. We sat with Aunt Pat, cousin Lisa and her beautiful daughter, Kaitlin. The Kernels won and we had a blast!

BFSISPIC (best friend,  sister-in-law, partner in crime) Nina and I are anxiously awaiting our little     get-away vay cay later this month. Boy, are we ready for it! Four glorious, care-free days where we can do anything  and go anywhere we want. Remember on our little trip last year, when I reported that I had developed "skankles" (skinny ankles) from walking so much? I'm ready to do it all over again. Small price to pay for having so much fun.

Today would have been Dad's 90th birthday. I am sure that he is grateful to be where he is now, celebrating with Mother, his parents, and brothers and sister. He missed them so when he was still here.

Hope all of you are surviving the Presidential campaigns. Holy moley! Have I mentioned that Hubby and I are a "mixed" marriage? In all reality, we are both Independents because we vote for the person, but we are registered in opposite parties. It's so much FUN to get campaigning calls and mail-outs from BOTH parties. I won't even bother mentioning which party I belong to, but let's just say that I am NOT for the really stupid candidate. Still got ya guessing?  Oh, well.

NOVEMBER CAN NOT COME SOON ENOUGH when it comes to this election!!!!!!!!!

GOD BLESS US ALL (AND HEAVEN HELP THE POLITICIANS)

    Janene...

... was diagnosed with breast cancer on November 11, 2013. This is a place for all of the people who love and care about her to get the information about her treatment and her personal experience of kicking cancer's ass, (sometimes from her daughter's perspective). It's hard to stand by and not be able to do anything to help. Writing gives my mom an outlet and allows both of us to share information during this time. Therefore, we blog :)
