CUT-AND-PASTE LESSON 101

THE TROUBLE WITH DOING SOMETHING RIGHT THE FIRST TIME IS THAT NOBODY APPRECIATES HOW DIFFICULT IT WAS.

I have had such a difficult time the last few days. I've been trying to cut and paste something into an e-mail. No problem, you say? Uh . . . you smarties that can do this really hard task can just go and stand in the corner while I explain my problem to other "computer usage victims".

Anyhoo, I attempted to paste a document into a letter. Well, I must have gotten the cut and paste process half-way done. I ended up with a loooonngg sheet of letter, document, letter, document, letter. My practice attempts at this just kept piling up on the same location, repeating itself over and over in one document. Are you following me on this? Okay. That was a mess. So, darling Jenna came to my house and attempted to cut and paste the letter and document into my e-mail. But it looked like one of those old telegrams that people used to send. Like it was all one long sentence. It evidently wasn't able to format correctly, which neither Jen or I were aware of. Yuck! Well, I had to manually redo the spacing, and, God help me, I ended up sending it like that. What a hot mess!

Yesterday, sweet Cate came out and told me that I needed to go to another one of my e-mail servers (?) cause my usual one couldn't format my writings in the proper way. Hooray!!!!! BUT, then I did something kinda embarrassing. I resent the reformatted letter and document with a note at the top, explaining that I was sending a "cleaned up" submission. Nothing like drawing attention to my weaknesses. WHATEVER!

So, fellow computer dummies, it's (1) highlight what you want to send (2) click "ctrl c" to copy
(3) click "ctrl v" to paste. Now was that so hard? Wait . . . oh wait . . . Cate said something about clicking "ctrl a" to highlight, but I just clicked and dragged. Whatever, again. If you are having problems, just call someone you know that is between five and eighteen years old. They'll know what to do.

Well, can you guess what is pictured.? I'll tell you in a minute.

I admire people who make things. Several weeks ago my dear daughter, Jenna, slaved over a fantastic "weighted" blanket for Alec. A weighted blanket is kinda complex. First off, she had to make it quite large because our little boy isn't so little anymore - he's about six feet tall! Anyhoo, it's a quilt, that has special pellets sewed into each square so the total weight is evenly distributed throughout the whole thing. (Jenna ended up using around twenty pounds of pellets). People who have autism seem to be comforted with something heavy on them. When Alec was younger, we used to roll him up in a blanket or quilt and compress his body with ours. He also liked and still does, having his head squeezed. So Jenna's huge project was definitely a gift of love to her kiddo.

When I was in church yesterday, I was so happy to see Kay and Richard Sherman and Kay's mom, Virginia (friends who had lived near me for years until they moved to "warmer" pastures). They were here visiting from Arkansas and I got to talk to them after services. We chatted mostly about what was going on in my life. It was later in the day that I learned that they were in Iowa because Richard's mother had passed away! (My deepest sympathies to the family).

Well, as church ended our Virginia stood up and made an announcement. She had been busy crocheting her wonderful dishcloths. That is what is pictured above. If you have never used one of these, you are missing out. That sweet lady had made a big box full of them and had brought them to share with all of her old friends, since she knew we all loved them and used them. She invited everyone to pick one out as they left. As you see, I picked red. (it must run in the family - Dad always loved red, especially vehicles that he drove, and of course, Alec, who has worn red T-shirts every day for the last eight or nine years).

Wait . . . let me correct myself. What is pictured above is not just a handmade dishcloth . . . it's a special slice of love that was given from the heart of one very special lady. Thanks again, Virginia.

I WAS REWARDED FOR CLEANING!

HOUSEKEEPING IS LIKE BEING CAUGHT IN A REVOLVING DOOR.

I woke to a nice sunny morning today. When it is nice out, I find I am more inclined to have more ambition to get things done around the house. Soooo, I ironed clothes, and swept, then Swiffered the floors. I'm sure glad I did that last chore. Because . . .

Yesterday I got up and washed my hair in the bathroom sink. Unfortunately, I caught my left diamond earring with my thumbnail and popped off the stud! Even though I turned off the water quickly, it was gone. Crap! Hubby gave me those earrings for Christmas a few years ago and I really liked them.

Soooo, I had Hubby take the sink pipe apart and look in the trap. No earring. Then he went to the basement and took some pipes apart down there. No earring. Okay, not the end of the world, right? But still, I felt pretty bad.

THEN . . . this morning when I was Swiffering the hallway floor, I hit something small and hard. I figured that it was a little pebble that one of us had brought into house on our shoe. Nope, it was my earring stud! Now, we had walked in the hallway and bathroom several times and never stepped on it. Who would have thought that that little thing would pop up and fly out the bathroom door and land in the hallway? Amazing. See, I was rewarded for cleaning. Whoo hooo!

In a previous post, I had mentioned that I have been watching tooooo much political stuff on TV. It is really getting into my head and on my nerves. So I thought I would show what "Little J" does when she watches tooooo much political stuff. She doesn't really make much sense, but evidently bopping herself in the head is a less painful experience. Who knows? She's kinda . . . well, different. Whatever.

FYI unexplainable = inexplicable :)

Weapons of mass destruction. . . or, maybe just rubber shoes.

I told you Little J doesn't make much sense ;)
