Has everybody got their fill of winter yet???? Me too!
Had to have my computer tinkered with. It wasn't allowing me to type anything. My keyboard was okay, so there was some kind of problem in the innards of the main frame or some such thing. Whatever. Poor Jenna kept telling me, "Take it to the GEEEEK SQUAAAAD! I am not a computer expert!" (I had been bugging her for any tech knowledge she had.)So finally I took it in and they fixed it in one day.
Snow...snow...snow. And ice! This is the oddest February we've had in a long time. I guess it's good that I stay inside so much. When I do have to go somewhere, I kinda panic when I see any ice or snow. I have advanced from totally using my walker, to stepping independently with the occasional help of Dad's old cane. I even went down to The Woodbridge Building and cleaned for three hours. I got around pretty good! I have an event going there this week-end, and just did a lot of last minute stuff.
It sure has been a time for a lot of deaths lately. Four funerals of friends in the last month. Sister Sandy said it seems a lot of people die when the seasons change. Is that an old wives' tale? I'll believe anything . . . 'cause I'm an old wife.
Hey, someone who is close to me (but I am NOT mentioning any names) had quite a scare the other night. This person was prepping for a colonoscopy that was to be done the next morning. He mixed up his glop that he was supposed to drink. It tasted chunky and icky, but he was toughing it out. Then his daughter came in the room and asked him what he was drinking. That's when they realized that she had set a jug of water and his "pooping" powder next to a jug of water with the salt mixture she had ready to use on the ice covered steps outside. Needless to say, the hospital told them to get him in to the emergency room. He went. Good news is, he came out okay. Whew
Not looking forward to my trip to the Mayo Clinic that is coming up. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the weather is decent. Minnesota can have even more crappy weather than Iowa. Whatever.
Been doing some baking lately. I decided to make a "Valentine's Day" cherry pie for Hubby. Normally, I put down layers of old newspaper on my dining room table, then lay down my Tupperware pastry sheet, and roll out dough for pies (or homemade noodles). Anyhoo, I took off my wedding ring, my anniversary ring, and a ring that Hubby's Aunt Donna had given me. I laid them aside on the table and finished the pie crust dough. Then, I cleaned up my mess, tossed the floury newspaper in the trash and baked the pie. That night I was lying in bed and I realized that I wasn't wearing Aunt D's ring. (You all know where I'm going with this, right?). Then I remembered that Hubby had already set the garbage out for collection the next morning. Okay, so here's me who can not even step outside without help, lying in bed worrying if I had wrapped up that ring in the paper and tossed it out, too. Then I thought that I would be screwed if the garbage men came early, before I had time to have Hubby check the trash. Thankfully, Hubby got up and went out and brought the trash bag back inside. We quickly found the ring. Whew! Can you say "Lucky!"
And I got roses!
I have the latest hair report. This picture is NOT pretty. My locks are now about 1 inch or so. The latest chemo pills are kinds stalling any growth. It's a funky white color, with just a hint of crappy curl which looks ugly. I wish it would start getting longer. I am sick of wearing wigs. I get double-take looks from people all the time. They realize a beat after they look at me, that something doesn't look quite right. sigh
When the grandkids were here a few weeks ago, I took a picture of a "snow day" project that Abby and I did in between watching a marathon of some British baking show that she is addicted to.
Then Alec brought some of his drawings. He likes to sketch out the complete set of characters from shows, like Spongebob Squarepants, The Family Guy, and a bunch of others. I laid some out on the bed and tried to squeeze them all into the picture.
Since my last post, we survived one government shut-down, and avoided another. Life is really getting interesting. Can't wait to see how the next episode plays out. Hey, had an opportunity to host a small-town meeting of one of the presidential candidates at The Woodbridge Building, but had to decline. I do not want to associate the business with any certain political party. I won't even allow political signs to be put on any of our properties. It may sound a bit dramatic, but honestly it is not all that safe to declare which side you prefer. Think about it.
Well, I hope all you had a wonderful Valentine's Day with your sweetie. Hey, I got the neatest "Happy Galentine's Day" card from my oldest and dearest friend, Betty. It was really cute and unique. Love ya, Girl!
GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND GOD BLESS OUR COUNTRY
