THE POWER OF IMAGINATION MAKES US INFINITE.
                                                       John Muir
"A" is for . . .  ARTISTIC
"A" is for . . .  AWESOME
"A" is for . . .  AMAZING
"A" is for . . .  ALEC!!!!

This is Alec's self-portrait that he did in art class.  The "texture" that he put into the work were: gingerbread men in his hair, purple and blue squares for the background, his initials (AO) for his skin, and little Pixar balls (like the ball in the Luxo Jr. picture) for his red shirt.

There are also pictures of Jenna and Alec in his classroom, after receiving his Marion Way Award for art, Mr. V, one of his wonderful, excellent teachers, and the ceiling tiles that he did for his classroom. If you noticed that he did not draw in any eyelashes or eyebrows, well. . .  that's the way he prefers it.  We are always catching him shaving or plucking.  It must be a sensory thing.

Hope you enjoyed the art.

I GOT NOTHING

LIFE IS A BLANK CANVAS, AND YOU NEED TO THROW ALL THE PAINT ON IT YOU CAN.

                                                                                         Danny Kaye

It's true. . .I got nothing.  Things are really slow around here, kids.  I have a couple of friends that have some really interesting things going on in their lives, but those are their stories and not mine to tell. (Dagnabbit)

I have been watching WAR AND PEACE on TV, which is surprisingly good.  Never had the desire to delve into the book, with all it's Russian names and such. Also, my "limited" series, FLESH AND BONE, is over and guess what? - - - it's coming back next season.  It was so good, they decided not to "limit" it.  Yippee! I am almost done watching all six seasons of GOSSIP GIRL on Netflex.  Any show, ie: SMASH, that is filmed in New York is so interesting to me.

I have been doing a lot of writing lately. So much, in fact, that the e, s, a, d, n, and t are worn off my keyboard.  Think it's about time for a new laptop? Decided to start reading some more books, so just started GONE GIRL.

Uh. . . see what I mean about absolutely nothin' going on around here.  I did get up early and shovel snow off the deck.  Sure glad our deck isn't any bigger than it is.  And, yes, People, the snert is back.  Remember last winter me telling you that snow plus dirt equals snert. (Wait a minute, shouldn't that be spelled "snirt"?)
Whatever.

Oh!  Oh!  Almost forgot to tell you.  My wonderful Alec is getting an award Thursday.  It is the Marion Way Award for the most improved art student.  Jen is taking off work a little early and we are going to his school to see him get. . . well,. . .awarded. I need to take some photos of some of his work to show you.  His self portrait turned out amazing. His drawings are getting more and more evolved.  He puts in so much detail that it is fun to stand and look at his pictures and suddenly you notice some little bit here and there which is cleverly woven into the overall scene.  Lovely.

Hey, it's time for Commercial Comments!  I love that new Reese's peanutbutter cup commercial where it says, "YOUR MOUTH ISN'T WATERING - - - IT'S CRYING TEARS OF JOY

Well, I guess I'm going to try to find something interesting to do around here. Perhaps the toilet needs scrubbing.  Yup, that's what I'm going to go do.

BELATED HAPPY NEW YEAR

DON'T REGRET THE PAST - - -  JUST LEARN FROM IT.
                                                                                  Ben Ipock

Um . . .  sorry I'm a tad late in wishing you well for the new year.  Whatever.

Hope all is well with y'all.  Not much happening here, which, in the big scheme of things, is a good thing.

2016 has really spanked us with colddddd weather which makes it uncomfortable, but we are
OVERCOMERS, remember?

I have been having a good time working on my favorite pass time, which is writing kids' stories.  I got
500 PAIRS OF GREEN PANTS and SHOES-DAY TUESDAY finally finished.  I have found that I like to give my work really strange titles (or rather, they seem to name themselves).  Whatever.

Hey, went to the oncologist last Wednesday, and things are going swell.  No, problems, nothing looking worrisome or out of the ordinary, so it is all good.

We are almost to the finish line concerning our bridge business.  Yup, we are closing the doors and officially retiring. Hubby's dad built airfield landing strips in Australia during WWII and that's how he learned to run big equipment.  When he came home, he began buying different machines and started the business.  It's been a good life . . . an interesting life.  But I will be so glad to not have to do the bookwork or make reports and such, ever again.

Jenna and I got to go to The Giving Tree Theater again.  The play "Wit" was amazing.  A professor who had dedicated her career to teaching the works of John Dunne, the poet, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and was in the last stage of her life.  It was really powerful with an incredibly touching final scene. I can't wait until the upcoming "Steel Magnolias" is performed later this year at that theater. Jenna and I have watched that movie together several times and we like to quote from it. ie:  'I love ya more than my luggage!'  or 'You are a sick ticket!'.

My daughter has also often referred to my hairdo as 'a white football helmet' (in the movie, Shelby's description of her mother's hair was a brown football helmet).   Whatever.

NOTE:  Special condolences to my dear sis-in-law, Jill, on the passing of her wonderful mother, May.
Also, a big HEY to bro-in-law Ray-Ray who came through knee replacement surgery like a
              champ!

Keep warm and keep busy.  Talk to ya later.

                                                           GOD BLESS YOU ALL

    Janene...

... was diagnosed with breast cancer on November 11, 2013. This is a place for all of the people who love and care about her to get the information about her treatment and her personal experience of kicking cancer's ass, (sometimes from her daughter's perspective). It's hard to stand by and not be able to do anything to help. Writing gives my mom an outlet and allows both of us to share information during this time. Therefore, we blog :)
