ABOUT MOTHER'S DAY

MOTHERHOOD IS A CHOICE YOU MAKE EVERYDAY--- TO PUT SOMEONE ELSE'S HAPPINESS AND WELL-BEING AHEAD OF YOUR OWN, TO TEACH THE HARD LESSONS, TO DO THE RIGHT THING EVEN WHEN YOU'RE NOT SURE WHAT THE RIGHT THING IS... AND TO FORGIVE YOURSELF, OVER AND OVER AGAIN, FOR DOING EVERYTHING WRONG.
Donna Bell, At Home on Ladybug Farm

Okay, it's Tuesday and it's a few day past Mother's Day, but here goes.

I had a wonderful Mother's Day.  Actually, I had a wonderful Mother's Weekend. Jenna and Alec came out Saturday and we hatched plans for making a gnome house out of the big tree stump I have in my lower back yard. She made the neatest door to attach to the stump, and there are several clever plans we have come up with to make it also accommodate some fairies. FYI that tree stump is really unique as you can see in the photo, and it should be a real hoot to create something cool on it. Jenna also brought out a bunch of materials and we made cement stepping stones out of rhubarb leaves (you can find the plans on Pinterest). We'll have to wait for them to dry completely to find out if our experiment was a success!

Sunday, Jenna and Alec came out again and we worked out some ideas for a roof for our gnome/fairy housing development. You'll just have to wait and see what happens!

Jenna and Alec brought me some wonderful striped hosta plants  (I may have mentioned too much how I needed some striped ones to go with all my solid green plants from Dad's farm) and two pots of red daisies that Alec picked out (probably because red is his signature color). These lovely gifts were from them and son, Dan, in Minnesota.
Love them!

Jenna also had pictures printed off  (they are two I previously posted) and framed them in some sunflower picture frames that she had given me. They are shown here with a beautiful cross stitch piece that sister Karen did for me when I was going through that breast cancer thing. All these mean so much to me.  Love them!

I want to share something touching that Alec did for his mama. His teacher gave him  a fill-in-the-blank sheet for Mother's Day. This is what he wrote.

MY MOM'S AS PRETTY AS:   (A) ROSE
MY MOM'S AS NICE AS:   ALEC
MY MOM'S AS SMART AS:  GEORGE WASHINGTON
MY MOM'S AS CARING AS:  A DOCTOR
MY MOM'S AS FUNNY AS:  HOMER SIMPSON WAS FALLING DOWNSTAIRS
MY MOM'S AS BUSY AS:  A BUSY DAY
MY MOM'S AS SWEEET AS:  CHOCOLATE
MY MOM'S AS HELPFUL AS:  MYLES FETCHING CHEW TOYS

Hope your day was as good as mine.

Today is another good day. . . Hubby's birthday!

Guess I am very grateful for all the people in my life - kids, grandkids, sisters, and husband
Love them!

                                                                            GOD BLESS YOU ALL

    Janene...

... was diagnosed with breast cancer on November 11, 2013. This is a place for all of the people who love and care about her to get the information about her treatment and her personal experience of kicking cancer's ass, (sometimes from her daughter's perspective). It's hard to stand by and not be able to do anything to help. Writing gives my mom an outlet and allows both of us to share information during this time. Therefore, we blog :)
